Empowering students to speak and write from multiple perspectives


Perspective-Based Learning (PBL) is an association of staff developers dedicated to encouraging the use of academic language and critical thinking in the classroom. PBL associates promote academic literacy by providing training, consulting, and conferences that advocate research-based approaches that improve performance for students struggling with academic content and language.


PBL supports approaches that involve students in reading academically rich texts and developing vocabulary. Interactive strategies that engage students through dialog, debate, role-play, and simulation are the key to reviving high-quality writing in all content areas.
